How does Invisalign work?

Here at Kooringal Dental, more and more of our patients are choosing Invisalign Wagga over other traditional treatments to help straighten their smile. We are proud to provide these ‘invisible’ aligners to our patients who are suitable for this treatment option.

What is Invisalign?

This treatment aims to help those who are looking to straighten their teeth. It can help with things such as an overbite, underbite, gappy teeth, overcrowding and more. This is done with the use of multiple, clear, plastic aligners that gently move your teeth over time. They are custom-made just for you, and each one is slightly different which is what straightens your teeth.

Our process

When you decide you want to get Invisalign Wagga with us, we will first have a consultation with you. This is when we get to know you and your needs, as well as take scans of your teeth. These scans will give us a clear image of your smile, allowing us to determine whether you are eligible, and then are used to influence the creation of your aligners. Most people are eligible for this treatment, but if you’re not, there are always other options which we will happily explore with you.

Once your aligners have been created, we will provide you with them during a quick appointment, and will make sure that you’re comfortable with what you need to do before proceeding. To get the best results from Invisalign Wagga, we will recommend that you wear them for 20-22 hours a day. You will wear an aligner for around 2 weeks, and then move onto the next one. This process will be repeated until the treatment is over, which usually takes anywhere from 6 to 18 months.

Once you have completed the treatment, we highly recommend that you wear a retainer. This should be worn every night to prevent your teeth from moving back to their original positions, which they will try and do naturally. We can provide you with a custom-made retainer that will help to keep your smile looking great.

What are the benefits?

When it comes to getting this treatment, there are many benefits that you can enjoy before, throughout and after.

Simple process

The first thing that you will notice about Invisalign is how easy the process is. There are no invasive surgeries, and you will only need to visit us for a check-up every 6-8 weeks during the treatment. This means that even if you have a very busy lifestyle, you can still successfully straighten your smile without disrupting your schedule.

No food restrictions

When you have a fixed dental appliance, it usually comes with food restrictions. This is because pieces of food can get stuck in it and it’s harder to keep it clean. Whereas when you use aligners, they are easily removable which means you can simply pop them out when it comes to eating. All you need to do is brush your teeth after you eat, pop the aligners back in and you’re good to go!

Excellent results

You might think that because the aligners are plastic, the results will be less successful, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. If you’re struggling with mild to moderate misalignment, and don’t want to use fixed dental appliances, Invisalign could be a great choice for you.
