5 FAQs about our dental implant treatment

Here at Kooringal Dental, we offer our patients dental implants Wagga to help replace their missing teeth, and it is a popular option if you are looking to do so. Our team of dentists are very experienced in, and knowledgeable about, this type of treatment, so you can be sure you are in good hands. We are also more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the process.

What are they?

Our dental implants Wagga consist of three parts, the implant screw, the abutment and the crown. The implant screw is the foundation for your new tooth, and is hidden within your bone. The abutment is the piece that is in between the crown and the implant screw, and attaches them to each other. The crown is a piece of porcelain that is shaped, sized and coloured like your other teeth and goes on top of the implant screw.

What will happen?

When you receive this treatment with us, it is performed in two main appointments. Your first appointment will be the insertion of the implant screw into your bone. We will do this by opening up the area to expose the bone, and inserting the screw. After this, we will close the area back up and leave it to heal for a while. This healing process is very important in ensuring your new tooth has a good, strong foundation to hold it.

Once the area is healed, you will come back to our practice so that we can attach your crown and the abutment to the implant screw, and you’re good to go. Once they are both fitted and everything is healed, the treatment will be complete, and you can go and enjoy life with your new tooth!

How do I take care of the implants?

Once you have your implants in, maintaining them is very simple. All you need to do is make sure you are following the normal oral hygiene methods and brushing and flossing. We would also recommend using mouthwash to make sure you get rid of as much bacteria as possible.

How long do they last?

One of the great things that our patients have loved about our dental implants Wagga is that they can last for around 25 years! This means that you won’t have to worry about replacing them for a very long time. The combination of the strong base using the implant screw and the durability of the crown creates a very comfortable and natural feeling result.

Why should I choose dental implants?

There are so many reasons as to why we think this treatment is one of the most popular for replacing missing teeth, and one of the main ones is the natural look of the porcelain. A lot of our patients who come to us for implants make the point of wanting them to look natural, and we can do just that. We choose porcelain for our implants, because it is very easy to shape and change colour to adapt to the look of your teeth, and they are also stain resistant, meaning that your new teeth can stay bright for even longer!
